Bucks County Group Collecting Used Wheelchairs, Related Items

LANGHORNE, Pa. (CBS) - A Bucks County community organization is asking the public for gently used wheelchairs, electric scooters and other medical equipment for those in need.

If you now someone who used a wheelchair for a while but doesn't need it anymore, the Community League at Saint Mary Hospital is accepting donations of used equipment.

"It's called CARES, which stands for Community Aid Refurbished Equipment Store," explains spokeswoman Linda Deeter, "and we're going to be taking medical equipment which is in fairly good shape, and cleaning it and refurbishing it and then donating it, giving it to people in the community who are in need of these items."

The CARES store opens Monday, April 18th, in the Pine Watson Shopping Center on Route 413 in Langhorne.

Other needed items include crutches, unopened medical adhesive tape, adult diapers and electric hospital beds.

"We knew that these things were needed because we've had people ask for them," Deeter says.
