Bucks County Extends Hours For Senior Centers During Post-Storm Outages

WARMINSTER, Pa. (CBS) -- Officials in Bucks County indicate they are moving quickly to help senior citizens in the wake of power outages in the lower part of the county following last night's severe storms (see related story).

As if temperatures in the 90s weren't bad enough, Tuesday night's powerful storm knocked out power in several Bucks County communities.

County officials say three senior centers will remain open until 7pm, through Friday, in response to those outages.

Those centers are the Bristol Borough Area Active Adult Center, the Bristol Township Senior Center, and the Ben Wilson Community Center, in Warminster.  This gives seniors as opportunity to get inside a cool location and stay out of the heat.

Meanwhile, county officials are asking residents to check on their elderly neighbors to make sure they're not suffering from heat-related illnesses.  County officials say the power for some may be out for an extended period.
