Bucks County Concert Raises Money In Honor Of Local Musician Murdered In 2011

BUCKS COUNTY (CBS) -- A concert at Bucks County Community College will raise money for a foundation in the name of an area musician who was murdered in 2011.

Danny DeGennaro or "Rio" as he was often called, was a guitarist and song-writer who toured the country with famous acts, becoming a local celebrity in New Hope and other hot-spots.

He was murdered in December, 2011 inside his Bristol Township home in a robbery gone-bad.

A foundation was started in his name, with a scholarship for students at Bucks County Community College. Degennaro Foundation's Aurora Hill said they also work with upcoming musicians in the area, giving studio time or making videos.

"Really helping them work alongside veteran musicians so they kinda learn what the field's all about and get themselves out there," Hill said.

This year's concert pays tribute to the Allman Brothers Band.

The concert is Oct. 22. Tickets are available here.
