Broomall-Newtown Baseball Team Wins Babe Ruth World Series

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- While the Taney Dragons are getting all of the attention and the headlines for their Little League World Series run, the boys from Broomall-Newtown deserve recognition, also. The 13-year-olds won the Babe Ruth World Series -- and the team of 15-year-olds is trying to match them.
The Babe Ruth League is for kids who want to continue playing organized baseball beyond Little League -- and this summer has been one that Dan Cahalane will never forget. He manages the team of 13-year-olds who went 20-1 in tournament play. They beat a tough team from Arizona in the finals.
"I don't think they realize how hard it is to do," Cahalane said. "Everything has to fall into place."
And it did.
Shortstop Jim White went 3-4 with 4 RBIs in the championship game. And then he went bananas with his teammates on the mound after the final out.
"It's good," White said. "It was a fun time and a great experience."
The 15-year-olds qualified for the quarter-finals in Washington State and they will have plenty of support back home.
