Brigantine Officer Indicted In Alleged Sexual Assault Of Teen

ATLANTIC COUNTY, N.J., (CBS) -- A Brigantine police officer was indicted Thursday in the alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

Ralph M. Pereira, 44, of Brigantine, NJ, was indicted on 10 criminal counts in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a child in 2012 and 2013, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

The Prosecutor's Office says Pereira allegedly provided the 16-year-old with alcohol before committing the alleged acts.

Pereira was arrested in May 2014 and was later released on $100,000 cash bail.
