Brielle Barber, Of Lemon Shot Challenge, Passes Away At Age 6

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Brielle Barber, the little girl whose parents were behind the "Lemon Shot Challenge," has passed away, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation confirms.

ALSF says Brielle's parents are active in raising money for pediatric brain cancer research through the "Lemon Shot Challenge," which dares people to drink straight lemon juice to promote awareness of childhood cancer.

Brielle was originally diagnosed with a malignant glioma on her spine in 2013 when she was just two and a half, according to ALSF.

The tumor was removed during surgery, and Brielle began proton radiation and three types of chemotherapy.

Five months after treatment, ALSF says her cancer returned in her brain.

Brielle had been complaining of headaches and blurred and double vision. She was sent to CHOP for a CAT scan/MRI which revealed four tumors.

One tumor was removed by a surgeon, and the others were targeted by full brain radiation and focal radiation to the larger tumor along with chemotherapy.

Sadly, Brielle passed away on July 11, 2016 at age 6.
