Sixers, Brown Agree To Contract Extension

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Brett Brown and the Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to a contract extension, general manager Sam Hinkie announced during a press conference on Friday.

'"I feel personally connected to this city. I love the city of Philadelphia, it's real, it's blue collar, it wears it's heart on it's sleeve. It's difficult at times going through what we all go through. I like raising my family here," said Brown.

"Brett has been everything we anticipated – and more – both as a basketball coach and a partner in building this program," Hinkie said in a news release. "His tireless work ethic, his daily desire to consistently improve, and his resiliency line up with our core values as an organization. It was not difficult to come to the decision to formally say we want to work with Brett Brown even longer."

Brown signed a four-year deal to be head coach of the Sixers in the summer of 2013. Now, in year three of a rebuilding situation, Brown is just 38-148 (.204) and 1-21 (.045) this season.

The extension will keep Brown in Philly through the 2018-19 season.
