Cops: 4-Year-Old Dies After Being Shot In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police say a 4-year-old girl is dead after a shooting in North Philadelphia this afternoon.

The little girl was shot in the eye and pronounced dead a half an hour after police received the call.

It happened inside a home near the intersection of West Montgomery Avenue and North 20th Street, around 12:30.

Police have recovered the weapon.

The child was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital where medics pronounced her dead just after 1 p.m.

The girl's 25-year-old mother and 3-year-old sister were at the scene at the time of the shooting.

No arrests have been made as police continue their investigation.

"Our number one priority is finding out how this happened," police said.
