Brandon Tate-Brown Protesters Slow Traffic Around Center City
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Traffic was slow or blocked in some areas around City Hall at the tail end of Tuesday evening rush hour due to protesters who've been marching to demand justice for the Brandon Tate-Brown.
Tate-Brown was shot in the back of the head by police during a traffic stop a year ago today.
Police say he was reaching for a gun, but the family doesn't buy it.
The officers involved were cleared of wrongdoing and will not face charges.
The family of Brandon Tate-Brown filed a federal lawsuit against the city.
That is still pending in court.
"We're asking the court to do that on behalf of any person who may have been the victim of police victim or may in the future without this reform become a victim," the family's attorney, Brian Mildenberg said at the time.
The complaint suggests the police planted the gun on Tate-Brown and seeks damages for wrongful death.
The city declined to comment on the case.
