Brandon Olivieri Sentenced To 37 Years To Life In Prison In Murders Of Two Teen Boys In South Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A teenager convicted of murdering two 16-year-old boys in South Philadelphia was sentenced Monday to 37 years to life in prison. Brandon Olivieri was found guilty in May in the deaths of Salvatore DiNubile and Caleer Miller.
Olivieri's defense team says they will appeal the ruling.
Olivieri shot and killed the teens in October 2017 when he was 16.
Prosecutors say Olivieri gunned down DiNubile after the pair got into a fight.
Prosecutors say Miller was not the intended target and was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
DiNubile's family reacted to the sentencing outside court.
"Is there closure? There's no closure, there's never going to be closure, our lives are over," said Sal DiNubile, the victim's father. "I just hope he spends the rest of his life in jail and I hope he doesn't enjoy it. I hope it's very painful. I hope he dies, that's it, tragically, painfully, that's all I can offer."
"It's not home, it's just a house, we don't do anything together. Without him, he was our glue and how could we ever without him?" said Sal's sister, Ciarra DiNubile.
Olivieri maintained his innocence during his trial.
