Boxing Fundraiser At Liacouras Center Promises To Be Knock Out

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A fundraiser to benefit youth programs in the city of Philadelphia is promising to be a knock out night.

"Night At The Fights" is being presented by the Joe Hand Boxing Gym to benefit the Urban League of Philadelphia and local partners for youth and education programs.

The Golden Gloves Championship event will feature amateur fighters and Philadelphia celebrities, like District Attorney Seth Williams, who has been training with professional boxer Bernard Hopkins for his match.

One of the beneficiaries is the Philadelphia Film Office where Sharon Pinkenson is the director.

She talks about the Greater Philadelphia Filmmakers Program.

"It's the pure nonprofit side of what we do," Pinkenson says. "It's helping kids, young people and emerging filmmakers to learn their craft with free programming every month."

Among the musical performers at the event will be Philadelphia singing group Brotherly Love.

Tickets are still available for "Night at the Fights" on Saturday, April 30 at Temple University's Liacouras Center.
