Boil Water Advisory Lifted In Camden

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) – Camden officials say a boil water advisory issued on July 28th has been lifted.

The advisory was the result of a possible problem with the drinking water due to low water pressure resulting from a water main break.

The city and American Water say the repairs have been completed and water quality tests shows that the water is now safe.

Residents were advised on both July 28th and 29th to boil the tap water before using as a precautionary measure until repairs were made.

While the advisory is no longer in effect, officials say the following measures are still strongly encouraged.

• Run your water faucets for 3-5 minutes to flush your service connection and interior plumbing with water from the service main.
• Empty and clean your automatic ice makers and water chillers.
• Drain and refill your hot water heater if the temperature is set below 113 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Service connections with a water softener/cartridge filters should be run through a regeneration cycle or other procedures recommended by the manufacturer.
• Water reservoirs in tall buildings should be drained and refilled (as applicable).

If customers have any questions they can contact the American Water office during business hours at 856- 635-1496 or visit www.aw-connect.com/camden for more information.
