Body Found Floating In Schuylkill River Near Boathouse Row

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are investigating the discovery of a body in the Schuylkill River early Monday morning.

The discovery was made near Boathouse Row along Kelly Drive.

According to investigators, a passerby spotted the body floating in the river and called 911.

Police confirmed the discovery of the body and it has since been recovered.

The individual's identity and gender was not immediately known.

The body is expected to be sent to the Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy to determine the victim's identity and a cause of death.

The incident remains under investigation.
