Bob Shoop To Remain Defensive Coordinator At Penn State

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Penn State had sanctions lifted, returned to postseason play and won a bowl game this past season. A big reason for the programs resurgence was the fact that they improved tremendously on the defensive side of the ball.

The man who orchestrated the growth was the team's new defensive coordinator, Bob Shoop. Under Shoop, the Nittany Lions improved from number 49 to number 2 in the nation in total defense.

Shoop came to Happy Valley along with James Franklin, and after the season the Lions had defensively, he garnered interest one program in particular.

Shoop interviewed for the defensive coordinator position at LSU earlier this week, but sent out a tweet on Wednesday that should have fans of the program rather happy.

As Penn State looks to build on the steps forward they took this past season, they will at least continue to have stability when it comes to their much improved defensive unit.
