Blog: Philly Region 8th Most Expensive For Car Insurance

By Jim Donovan: Philadelphia has the eighth-most expensive car insurance in the nation, according to a new insuranceQuotes.com examination of the 25 largest U.S. metropolitan areas. Car insurance in our area costs about 10% more than the national average. They defined the Philadelphia metro area as Philadelphia/Reading/Camden-PA/NJ/DE/MD.

It could be worse. In the Detroit metro area, drivers pay a whopping 165% more than the national average for car insurance. The next most expensive metros are New York City (36% more than the national average), Miami (+34%) and Los Angeles (+25%).

If you're looking for a break, move to Charlotte, North Carolina. Residents there enjoy the cheapest average insurance premiums, 43% less than the national average.
