Report: Ben Simmons Says He Will Enter NBA Draft
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- LSU freshman sensation Ben Simmons will enter the NBA Draft, according to ESPN.com's Jeff Goodman.
Simmons told ESPN on Sunday, "I'm making it official."
The 6'10" point-forward averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game this past season for the Tigers. He is the first player to average over 19 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists per game since Ron Harper (Miami-Ohio) in 1986, according to DraftExpress.com.
Simmons, however, received criticism for his team's 19-14 overall record, missing the NCAA tournament.
The 76ers currently have a 99.7-percent chance of finishing with the NBA's worst record, subsequently giving them the best odds to receive the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.
While many believe Simmons should be the first player taken, Duke's Brandon Ingram has "closed the gap," according to NBA executives.
On SportsRadio 94WIP last Saturday morning, CBSPhilly.com's Andrew Porter explained why the Sixers would be crazy to pass on Simmons.
