Ben Franklin Bridge Lights Up To Pay Tribute To Orlando Shooting Victims

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) – The Ben Franklin Bridge has lit up once again in memory of lives lost.

The Delaware River Port Authority announced that the bridge would illuminate in bright rainbow colors to honor the people killed in America's deadliest mass-shooting to date and Wednesday night marked the first night of the lighting.

Standing in solidarity with the victims of the Orlando shooting and their families, the bridge will shine bright from Wednesday night to Saturday, June 18.

The city is joining places all around the world in lighting up landmarks to honor those slain in Sunday's nightclub nightmare.

In addition to the tribute lighting, the bridge will be lit the following colors on the following evenings in June:

• June 15 through June 18 - Rainbow to honor the victims of the shooting in Orlando.

• June 19 - Blue to celebrate Father's Day.

• June 27 through July 4 - Red, white and blue to celebrate Independence Day.

A total of 49 people lost their lives when a gunman opened fire in a popular gay nightclub in Orlando called Pulse. Some of the victims were from the Delaware Valley and surrounding areas.
