Beer And Bulbasaurs! Pokémon Go Pub Crawl Planned In Fishtown

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An event on July 30 invites Pokémon Go players to come together in Fishtown for a pub crawl.

By Monday, nearly 800 people had signed up for an afternoon of hunting magical creatures and downing adult beverages while hitting popular bars, including Ortliebs, the El Bar, and Kung Fu Necktie. Organizer James Corbett is the co-founder of Shibby, a soon-to-be-launched app that turns a map into a social media wall.

"We're definitely going to be throwing down a bunch of lures for people to pick up Pokémon," Corbett said. "We just got Flying Fish to offer us a really cool prize."

But it's not just about booze and Bulbasaurs. Corbett says the event is meant to bring people together and introduce his business.

"We want to do things differently and operate differently as a company," he said, to come together and do things like this that are fun and engaging for everyone."

Details can be found on the event's Facebook page: Shibby Presents: Pokémon Bar Crawl Philadelphia.
