Beef stolen out of tractor trailer parked in Northeast Philadelphia

Truck driver chases away 10-12 meat thieves in Northeast Philadelphia, police say

A high "steaks" heist in Northeast Philadelphia has police wondering, where's the beef?

Just after 2 a.m. Monday, police said a large amount of frozen meat was stolen out of a tractor trailer parked on Norcom Road and Red Lion Road, near the Northeast Philadelphia Airport.

Packages of beef were left scattered around the truck, which police said was damaged during the foodie theft on Monday morning.

The 55-year-old driver woke up and realized people were inside the truck, according to police. He chased the thieves away, causing them to drop some of the meat in the area. The driver told police 10 to 12 people were actively taking meat.

Investigators didn't provide a description of the suspects.

It's not the first time protein's been poached from trailers parked around Philadelphia. In July, more than 40 boxes of meat were stolen from a truck parked in the city's Bustleton neighborhood while the driver was still inside.

In 2024, there were at least two incidents of seafood being stolen from trucks. In March, someone broke into a refrigerated truck and stole dozens of pounds of Alaskan salmon and Pacific cod. Then in September, pallets of crab meat worth an estimated $42,000 were snatched from a truck in South Philadelphia.
