Beatles Documentary 'Eight Days a Week' Gets Grammy Nod
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Beatles documentary "Eight Days a Week" has been nominated for a Grammy award for Best Music film. A familiar face in Philadelphia is talking about his experience in the film.
In 1964, Larry Kane was assigned to cover the Beatles tour -- an assignment he didn't want to accept as a serious journalist.
"In fact, in the movie, one of the big laugh lines is where I talk about the fact that I told my bosses I'm not going to go on this trip," Kane said.
But he reluctantly agreed -- and his coverage as a reporter plays a large roll in the film.
"It's a fantastic film, it was such a pleasure to work on it," Kane said. "And it was also astounding to me that I wound up in almost 50 percent of the movie."
And he got to experience Beatles mania first hand.
"To see it again, to feel like I was right there again, and I want to tell you they did such a great job that a person who was actually there, like me, could feel chills inside my body as I was watching this film and saying, 'they got it, they captured it.'"
