Back To School For Philadelphia School District

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Summer vacation is over, and 130,000 students in the Philadelphia School District are back in class today.
Mayor Jim Kenney and Superintendent Dr. William Hite joined city and school leaders in the ceremonial bell-ringing to start the school year.
Eighth-grader Tochi Nwokuekwu is looking forward to the new year at Hill-Freedman World Academy.
"Me, I was just trying to make my best of the year. Get good grades, and just enjoy my time in school."
There are first-day jitters as well for principal Anthony Majewski, who says school rosters are his biggest concern.
"There's always like, a glitch you miss. But in general it works. That's his biggest fear -- you wake up at 3 a.m. saying, 'Aww, I should have done that!'"
Hite told the opening ceremony the district is beginning the year on its best financial footing in years.
