Avoiding Bad Passwords As Easy As 1-2-3....4-5-6

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A new study of bad passwords finds some are worse than others.
'Password' has lost its long-running title as the most common choice for a secret code to another one that's also far too easy to guess: '123456.'
Add '78' to that, and you get the third on SplashData's list of passwords to avoid. Rounding out the top five are 'qwerty' and 'abc123.'
Some of the word-based lamentable logins include 'iloveyou,' 'letmein,' 'monkey,' 'shadow,' and 'sunshine.'
SplashData says the past year's rundown shows one effect of the hack that exposed tens of millions of Adobe users' details, with 'adobe123' and 'photoshop' in the top 15.
The company warns not to use the name of a website or service as a password. It pushes its SplashID password manager as a way to create complex codes that are harder to crack, though many similar solutions exist -- like Dashlane and LastPass.
