Authorities: Pa. Man Killed Estranged Wife After Argument

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Authorities allege that an eastern Pennsylvania man killed his estranged wife by shoving a sock in her mouth, taping her mouth shut and choking her because he was upset about her attending a parade with her ex-boyfriend.

Twenty-four-year-old Gordon Rohrbaugh of Fleetwood is charged in Lehigh County in Wednesday's death of 26-year-old Jillian Rohrbaugh of Whitehall Township. Police said the two married in July but had separated amid what authorities called a relationship "prone to physical and abusive altercations."

Authorities said he told investigators that he shoved a sock in the victim's mouth after she began hitting him. They allege that he then duct-taped her mouth, choked her with his hands and knotted an electrical cord from a floor fan around her neck and used it to choke her.
