Authorities Investigate Camden County Murder-Suicide Involving Son, Elderly Mom

VOORHEES, N.J. (CBS) – Authorities are investigating after police say a man shot and killed his elderly mother at an assisted living facility, then took his own life Sunday evening in Voorhees, Camden County.

This happened at the Genesis Healthcare Facility on the 3000 block of Evesham Road around 5:30 p.m.

Police say the son, identified as 62-year-old George Buller III, went to visit his mother, 85-year-old Andree Buller, at the facility late afternoon. He left to get something out of his car, police say, before returning to her room.

Employees tell police they then heard a gunshot. When a nurse's aide entered the room, Andree was dead and they witnessed George shoot himself.

No other injuries were reported.

Police say employees at the nursing home are pretty shaken up, but that everyone reacted fast and professionally and were key to getting the situation under control.

There's no word on a motive at this time. Camden County Prosecutors are investigating.
