Authorities ID Teen Killed In NJ Dog Attack

PATERSON, N.J. (AP) — Authorities have identified the 13-year-old boy who was killed when a 115-pound bull mastiff dog attacked him and another youth in northern New Jersey (see related story).

Paterson police say city resident Kenneth Santilla and another 13-year-old boy were walking along a street when the attack occurred Friday afternoon. The boys then ran off in different directions.

Santilla was found dead late Friday night, shortly after he was reported missing. But a cause of death has not been determined.

The other boy, whose name has not been released, and the dog's owner, 50-year-old Paterson resident Paul Clarke, both suffered bite wounds.

Authorities have said Clarke stabbed the animal "quite a few times" during the attack. The dog was euthanized, and its remains will be tested for rabies.

No charges have been filed.
