Authorities: At Least 3 Hurt In NJ Hotel Shooting

TOMS RIVER, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say at least three people were wounded when gunfire erupted at a southern New Jersey hotel in the early morning hours of New Year's Day.

Toms River police say the shooting at the Ramada Inn Hotel occurred around 1 a.m. Wednesday. A motive for the shooting remains under investigation, and it's not clear how many people were involved.

Two victims were found in a room at the hotel, while the third apparently was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle.

Authorities said one victim was undergoing surgery, while another was hospitalized in critical condition. Details on the third victim's condition were not disclosed.

It wasn't clear if any of the victims had been staying at the hotel in the Ocean County community.

No arrests have been made.
