Audubon Police Warn Against Solicitors Posing As PSE&G Employees
AUDUBON, N.J., (CBS) -- Some PSE&G customers lost power as a result of Wednesday's storms and some people may have been taking advantage of that to scam some PSE&G customers.
According to the Audubon Police Department's Facebook page, officers responded to two incidents of suspicious solicitors posing as PSE&G employees.
Police say both occurred on Thursday and the individuals claiming to be with PSE&G had clipboards with electric bills on them. Authorities added that they were wearing black and white laminated badges that were described as "cheap looking."
Police say they were attempting to trick people into believing they were with the company and talk them into changing their electric power.
Audubon Police are warning homeowners to beware of people going door-to-door soliciting. They are reminding residents that real PSE&G employees will be easy to identify due to their orange shirts and identification with PSE&G clearly visible on it.
