Attorney General: New Jersey State Trooper Justified In Shooting

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — The attorney general's office says a New Jersey state trooper was justified shooting a domestic violence suspect while trying to arrest him.

In a report released on Tuesday, investigators found 36-year-old Matthew Gerndt had rushed toward the trooper in his Jefferson Township apartment. Gerndt was shot in the buttocks and survived.

Gerndt was charged with assault and resisting arrest.

The trooper was not injured.
