9 People Injured When 3 Teen Robbery Suspects Involved In Police Pursuit Crash Into SEPTA Bus, Authorities Say

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A teenage driver on the run from police, slams a stolen SUV into the back of a SEPTA bus. The crash happened at the intersection of 37th and Spring Garden Streets in the city's Mantua section shortly after 10 p.m.

SEPTA officials say five passengers on the bus and the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the accident.

The 17-year-old male suspect and two passengers, a 17-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl, in the SUV were also injured. The 17-year-old male suspect was taken to Presbyterian Hospital with a fractured hip.

Police tell Eyewitness News the pursuit started in Upper Merion Township after a report of an assault and robbery at the King of Prussia Mall.

Investigators say the teens asked a woman, who had just finished work and was walking to her vehicle, to use her phone. That's when the teens allegedly placed the woman in a chokehold, punched her and threw her to the ground. The three suspects then fled in the woman's silver 2005 Toyota Highlander.

Charges are pending against all three juveniles in Montgomery County.
