Arrest Made In Deptford Fatal Hit-And-Run

By Dan Wing

DEPTFORD, N.J., (CBS) -- Authorities in Gloucester County say a 24-year old man from Runnemede, NJ is being charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash Sunday night.

The County Prosecutor's office says Brian Kowasa was accompanied by his father when he surrendered to Deptford Township Police overnight, and he's now being charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Around 8 p.m. Sunday, authorities say Kowasa struck and killed 52-year old Richard McClelland of Mantua on the Mantua Pike in Deptford, and instead of stopping continued on towards Woodbury.

Kowasa was able to post bail, and is currently free awaiting a court date.
