Area Bank Donates $40,000 To Phillies' Seasonal Anti-Hunger Campaign

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Phillies are once again joining the fight against summertime hunger.

This year's "Phans Feeding Families" campaign is getting a financial jumpstart from Citizens Bank.  Bank president Dan Fitzpatrick opened his company foundation's checkbook.

"We're very pleased to announce that we're making a $40,000 donation to Philabundance to get this thing started," he said today.

Philabundance chief development officer Susan Fink says summer is a critical time.

"With more than 300,000 children in the Delaware Valley who rely on school meals, many of those will go without breakfast and lunch," she noted.

The Phillies will support the program through an auction, a 50-50 raffle, a portion of the June 20th gate, and sales of a $5 "Phans Feeding Families" pin.
