Archdiocese Of Philadelphia Appeals To Community To Get Behind One Of The Largest Fundraising Campaigns Of The Year

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is launching its annual Catholic Charities Appeal with a plea to give hope to those in need.
A packet in the mail and homilies preached during Masses the second weekend of February will appeal to families in the archdiocese to get behind the largest fundraising effort of the year.
Archbishop Charles Chaput says he's set a $10 million goal.
He says he believes the generosity of individuals and families will help reach that goal.
And, Chaput says, he has an important message for all in the community:
"You don't have to belong to our church to be the beneficiary of our Catholic Charities work. And we want that to be clearly understood that no matter who you are, or where you come from that if you have a need that is real and genuine we want to reach out and help as best we can."
The campaign also is encouraging contributors to consider contacting their employer to see whether a corporate matching gift is possible.
