Archdiocese Announces Counseling Help For Those Struggling After Having An Abortion
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There's new help available for those struggling after deciding to have an abortion.
"After the second abortion I felt so far away from God."
Denise Kelly, of Havertown, described the anger and depression she felt.
"I was afraid I would never see my family again in Heaven because of my abortions."
But she found peace at a retreat called Rachel's Vineyard. A coordinated post-abortion counseling effort named Project Rachel has been
around for more than 30 years.
At a news conference at Archdiocese headquarters, Archbishop Charles Chaput says now, Project Rachel is in Philadelphia.
"We've finally been able to bring the resources together to do it here. It's been too long in coming, and we're grateful that it's starting now."
Free, confidential counseling is available to women or men, and Chaput says you don't have to be Catholic to get it.
