Apartment Building Fire In West Philadelphia Forces Evacuations

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Crews battled an overnight fire at an apartment complex in West Philadelphia.

Around 1:46 a.m., the fire department received a call reporting smoke on the 18th floor of an apartment building at 4445 Holden Street.

Upon arrival, firemen found a bedroom on fire on the 18th floor. That fire was quickly extinguished and placed under control at 2:15 a.m.

Floors 17, 18 and 19 had to be evacuated, and some residents on lower levels chose to as well.

There is reportedly water damage to the 17th floor.

There were no reports of any injuries.
