Ants Pants: Bacon Stack, $10

The good news at this Grey's Ferry café is that you can breakfast until 3 p.m. And folks like it – both times we went there, we waited in line for at least 15 minutes. Our goal was the "Bacon Stack," a creative mix – from the bottom up – of toasted country white bread, tomato slices, arugula, bacon, two sunny-side up eggs and dots of shaved Pecorino cheese. It all would have worked, except ….

Except the bacon was fatty and a bit undercooked.  Who in the world ever preferred undercooked bacon? I could overlook this issue, perhaps, if the entire basis of my last 40 days didn't revolve around bacon. If the swine ain't right, the dish doesn't work. So a good and potentially competitive dish falls out of the contest because of poor execution.

Great coffee, on the other hand.

Score: 68/100
