Anti-Trump Protesters Rally Outside Of Philadelphia Union League

By Mike Dougherty

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Donald Trump's speech at the Union league this morning caused a small commotion in Center City as hundreds lined Broad Street.

Most of them were anti-Trump protesters who were holding signs and shouting "Up with the people, down with Trump." They say Trump is dangerous and promotes intolerance.

"Donald Trump is not welcome here in Philadelphia and that time of rhetoric and racism cannot be accepted."

Others say he's not qualified for the job he's seeking: "He has no political expertise, none. Nada. Zilch. Zero."

There were a few Trump supporters sprinkled in, and they say that's exactly why they're voting for him -- they believe he's the man to shake up the government.

"So Obamacare has been a disaster, an ultimate disaster and I think from that standpoint if Mr. Trump can come in and correct that problem I think I'm gong to advocate for him to be president because he's going to do something."

Only a few people caught a glimpse of the presidential candidate as his motorcade went down 15th and into the side entrance of the building -- that's where a small crowd booed and gave him a one finger salute.

Inside, Trump would be addressing national security issues, military preparedness and veterans' issues in front of invited guests only.

CBS 3's Natasha Brown contributed to this report.
