Annual Holiday Tradition Hits Historic Haddonfield, The Candlelight Shopping Kickoff

HADDONFIELD, N.J. (CBS) -- An annual holiday tradition hit Haddonfield on Friday night. It's the kickoff of this year's candlelight shopping.

The community came out on Friday night to celebrate the tradition of candlelight shopping.

"I think the best part of it is it brings out the Christmas spirit," one young shopper said. As the sun goes down, every Friday until Christmas, Haddonfield storefronts are lighting up candles for their seasonal signature.

"It's great supporting the community like this. It's my favorite part of shopping for Christmas," one shopper said. "I try to come here and not the mall."

It's a great time for shoppers seeking great deals and business owners like John Picking, of Wild Violet Natural Food Store, say it's a great night for bringing the community together. "Everybody's gone to the internet sort of and we've tried to counter that, but it's not to go and see people and be outside.
