"We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience as we work through this unexpected situation," Amtrak wrote in a statement. "Customers with reservations on affected trains will typically be accommodated on trains with similar departure times or another day."
The downed wires also affected New Jersey Transit trains going in and out of New York. Customers should expect delays to continue Thursday, New Jersey Transit said on X.
Customers should expect possible delays and cancellations tomorrow, May 23 due to residual impacts resulting from crew availability and equipment that was out of position as a result of this evening's earlier service disruption caused by Amtrak's overhead wire issues.
