Amtrak Making Progress With Repairs Between Trenton, NJ And Holmesburg, Pa.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Amtrak crews working on a section of track between Trenton, NJ and Holmesburg, PA say they've made significant progress.

The 20-mile section of overhead wires experienced problems over the last 24 hours, with only one track open for trains to get by on earlier on Tuesday.

Amtrak says three of the four available tracks are now open, but that passengers should be prepared for delays throughout the area for most of the day.

Additionally, Acela Express and Northeast Regional service continues to operate with reduced frequencies between Washington and Boston, and schedule changes are anticipated for Keystone Service between Harrisburg, Pa. and New York.

Amtrak says passengers holding reservations that require modifications are being accommodated on other trains and notified by Amtrak Customer Service. Customers can also access Amtrak.com, smartphone apps or call 1-800-USA-RAIL for assistance with travel planning.
