Amid Winter's Grip, Atlantic City Boat Show Is An Oasis of the Mind

By David Madden

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- Looking for a distraction from the snow, ice, and power problems around the Delaware Valley?  Head down the shore.

Really.  The Atlantic City Boat Show continues through Sunday, at the Convention Center.

Until the spring weather returns, it may be your best distraction from winter.

Jon Pritko, manager at the Boat Show, has set up a display that's as close as you can get to a Florida Keys marina without getting on a plane.

"It's bright," he says.  "You have the smells, you have the warmth, and you have boats.  So it has that feel of spring and summer, and it gets people excited."

Of course the show, at its core,  is about getting you to buy a boat.  And they are available at every price level, with finance people at the ready.

But many attendees just stroll along and dream, taking in the various demonstrations and letting the kids play.

Hey, you could even learn fly fishing here if you want.

Right now, a trip like this could be almost therapeutic.  Tickets are available online or at the Atlantic City Convention Center.
