Ambulance Catches Fire In Old City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Philadelphia Fire Medic caught fire early Friday morning after leaving Jefferson Hospital.

This happened around 1:45 a.m. at 3rd and Market Streets in the city's Old City neighborhood.

Fire officials say the ambulance was heading back to the station when a small fire was discovered in the rear of the vehicle. Medics reportedly called the blaze in themselves and crews responded and put out the fire.

There was no patient inside the ambulance at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

Officials say the vehicle was not driveable following the fire.
