Allentown Police: Machete-wielding Teen Attacks Bicyclist, Fiancee

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A machete-wielding teen is behind bars in eastern Pennsylvania after police say he attacked a bicyclist and went after the victim's fiancée.

Police say it happened Monday morning in Allentown when a minivan driven by a 17-year-old boy almost hit a bicyclist. The driver and his juvenile passenger got out and confronted the man.

Authorities say the driver swung a machete at the victim and the passenger held a pocket knife to the man's throat. The teen cut the bicyclist's forearm.

The victim's fiancée heard the commotion and came outside where the driver and passenger went after her. She told police the teen was swinging the machete so hard the handle broke.

The driver is charged with aggravated assault and related offenses. It's unclear if the passenger was charged.
