All Philadelphia School District and Archdiocese Schools CLOSED Thursday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Anticipating the inevitable, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced shortly after noon today that all of its city schools will be closed on Thursday, February 13th, because of the impending snowstorm.

"We actually just decided to close the schools for tomorrow," Ken Gavin, director of communications for the archdiocese, said in  an e-mail to KYW Newsradio.   An expanded announcement was expected this afternoon.

In the suburbs, archdiocesan schools generally follow the lead of the local public school district.

A couple of hours later, Mayor Michael Nutter announced that all schools operated by the School  District of Philadelphia would also be closed tomorrow.
