After Letting Trade Deadline Pass Quietly, Flyers Host Calgary

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Flyers will look to extend their winning streak to three straight games tonight as they welcome a struggling Calgary team to the Center.

Tonight is the third game of a six-game homestand and so far the Flyers have beaten Minnesota (3-2 on Thursday) and Arizona (4-2 on Saturday). This success has allowed the Flyers to move within three points of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

This will be the second and final meeting between these two teams this season. Calgary won the first, in overtime, back on November 5th, Flames winning 2-1 in Calgary. But they comes into tonight really struggling. The Flames have lost four in a row and they have just 56 points on the season, that's tied for the third-lowest total in the NHL.

The NHL trade deadline was 3:00 this afternoon and it came and went without the Flyers pulling the trigger on any deals.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Dave Isaac of the Courier Post about the lack of a deadline deal and tonight's match-up.
