ARDMORE, Pa., (CBS) -- An adult figure skating competition is underway this weekend at the Philadelphia Skating Club and Humane Society in Ardmore.

Michelle Taska of Reading was one of about 300 people competing in this year's Eastern Adult Sectional Figure Skating Championships.

"I started when I was 41. That's when I found out about it," said Taska.

She says sports don't have to end when you are no longer in school.

"It's great to come home and show your kids that you got a medal, and they're just like, 'What?'"

Event co-chair Ann O'Keefe says the best skaters this weekend will move on to the national competition in Michigan.

"So we're delighted to have folks up and down the East Coast come right here to Ardmore and challenge themselves and challenge each other," said O'Keefe.

Most importantly, Taska tells KYW Newsradio it's fun.

"You could do it. As long as you're in reasonably good shape, they can teach you the basics. It's amazing," she said.
