AC Airshow Flies Back Into Town This Week

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) - If you hear lots of rumbling in Atlantic City this week you're not going crazy!

Their annual airshow -- Thunder over the Boardwalk -- returns on Wednesday.

It's one of the largest airshows in the country filled with what Greater Atlantic City Chamber President Joe Kelly describes as wonderful sounds and sights:

"It's loud. Nobody should be surprised by the noise. And when they look up they can also look out. We're one of the very few airshows that's over the ocean."

Kelly says the free show is all day long, with a Fourth of July ambiance.

"There's a very patriotic feel to the Airshow and I think by featuring aircraft from all branches it does that."

Including the return of the Thunderbirds this year.

Kelly says you don't even have to wait until Wednesday to enjoy the spectacle:

"Every year on the Monday of the Airshow there's a parade. It's a Salute to the Armed Forces Parade. Very patriotic, very well attended. Just a really feel good way to kick off the show."

And if you want to avoid the expected crowds of over 400,000 people, Kelly says you can watch the practice run on Tuesday. It's the complete show, he says, minus the announcing.
