Waiting For Your Absentee Ballot In Montgomery County? You're Not Alone

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- If you've requested an absentee ballot in Montgomery County and haven't gotten it yet, you're not alone. But county officials say they're working on it.

Montgomery County Board of Elections Chairwoman Val Arkoosh says just last week they processed 17,000 absentee ballot requests.

"So people are working very, very hard," Arkoosh said. "It's a very high volume, an unprecedented high volume situation."

She says they estimate they'll process 30,000 by the November 1 deadline, about 5,000 more than in 2012.

Arkoosh says they waited as long as they could to print the absentee ballots because of uncertainty over the wording over the ballot question dealing with the retirement ages of judges.

She says anyone concerned about the timing of the ballots can go to voter services in Norristown and fill out an absentee ballot in person, as long as they meet the criteria.
