Abington High School Teacher Charged With Inappropriate Sexual Contact With Student

ABINGTON, Pa. (CBS) – An Abington High School teacher has been suspended after being charged with corruption of a minor involving inappropriate sexual contact with a student.
The Abington School District released a statement Sunday night saying 55-year old Thomas Kummer, a Latin teacher at the school, was immediately suspended from his position.
Police say Kummer and the student had been involved in a sexual relationship since July 2018. The sexual contact between Kummer and the student allegedly happened on numerous occasions inside Kummer's vehicle at various locations in Abington Township, and at Kummer's residence in the Willow Grove section of Upper Moreland Township.
The district and staff are fully cooperating with Abington Police.

"Please know that we will continue to fully cooperate with the Abington Police. The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance," said assistant superintendent Jeffrey Fecher in the statement.
Kummer was charged with unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of a child, and institutional sexual assault of a minor.
