Abducted Wilkes-Barre Teen Found Safe; Alleged Kidnapper Arrested

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (CBS) -- A teenage girl who police say was abducted from her home in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania late Thursday night has been found and her alleged kidnapper has been arrested.

Police say 16-year-old Jenea Patterson was located safely early Saturday morning after authorities received a tip that she and the suspect, 21-year-old Walter Lewis, were in the area of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Pennsylvania State Police issued an Amber Alert for Patterson around 11 p.m. Thursday after they say she was taken from her home along East View Drive at gunpoint by Lewis, her ex-boyfriend.

Authorities say the tip led police to the parking garage of the hospital where the two were spotted in a car. Police say when Lewis noticed officers approaching, he throw a weapon to the ground and attempted to run, but was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Patterson was taken to police headquarters where she was turned over to her family. Police say she was unharmed.

Lewis was arrested on kidnapping and weapons charges.
