Abandoned Horse Injured By Paintballs Released From Hospital

NEW HOLLAND, Pa. (AP) — An abandoned horse later found shot more than 100 times with paintballs in central Pennsylvania has been released from a veterinary hospital.

The 20-year-old horse named Lily was found at the New Holland Sales Stables last month.

Police say the horse was hit by about 130 paintballs at close range and needed surgery to remove its injured right eye.

The case remains under investigation as authorities try to figure out who shot the animal with the paintballs.

Officials at the New Bolton Center say the horse has been discharged and is now at a recovery barn so her condition can be monitored.
